The formula
kcal = MET × 3.5 × weight(kg) ÷ 200 × minutes
A MET is a multiple of your resting metabolic rate: an activity rated 8 METs burns roughly eight times the energy of sitting still. Because the figure scales with body weight, a heavier person burns more doing exactly the same activity.

How accurate are MET values?+
They are population averages and can be off by 20–30% for any individual, since fitness, technique and terrain all matter. Use them to compare activities rather than as a precise energy count.
Does this include my resting metabolism?+
Yes — MET values are multiples of resting rate, so the total includes the calories you would have burned anyway. Subtract roughly 1 MET’s worth if you want the additional cost of the activity alone.
