The formula

litres = (area × coats) / coverage

Paint quantity is wall area multiplied by coats, divided by the spread rate on the tin. Most emulsions cover 10–13 m² per litre per coat, but porous, textured or dark-to-light surfaces drink far more. Buy a little over — matching a new batch later rarely goes unnoticed.
